Job Details:

+ The Registered Nurse effectively maintains the Standards of Practice and Care. Utilizing the nursing process, provides nursing care based on recognized professional and legal standards of practice and promotes collaboration with physicians and other disciplines. Meets SMH organizational expectations as defined by the Mission Vision & Values, Employee Standards of Performance, Hospital & Departmental Policies & procedures, HCAHPS scores designated by SMT and SMH's strategic goals. Verbalizes a clear understanding of and actively participates in continuous quality improvement, safety and customer satisfaction measures. Assesses/reassesses patient's condition through observation, interview of patient and and/or family/SO, physician's diagnosis and data, diagnostic results, and relevant data from other healthcare providers. Documents in the EMR in a timely manner all aspects of patient care. Provides patients and designated caregiver relevant health care education/instructions regarding treatments/procedures pre/post hospital care as appropriate and assesses for clear understanding of information given. Acceptance of delegated responsibilities, rotates to departments within Clinical Directors division, delegates responsibility to appropriate personnel for continuum of care through communication with all diciplines.and process improvements for department. Participates in cost saving initiatives and submits creative ideas for department zero defects. Assists in the orientation and training of new and tenured personnel, reassined nurses, student nurses, patient care assistants, and faculty; serves as a preceptor as needed and completes orientation documentation in a timely manner. Responds to internal/external disaster as directed. Accountable for nursing practice to the Chief Nursing Officer or designee in the facility in which practice takes place. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the organization. Current RN Licensure, ASU, ENDO, Infusion, Pre Admit RNs 1 year Medical/Surgical experience preferred, Endo 1 yr. Endoscopy experience preferred. ACLS required for ASU, Endo, Infusion and the Pre Admit areas. PALS required for ASU & Pre Admit. (For the weekend Infusion RN PALS is not required) Current knowledge of the nursing role & scope of practice as defined by the State of Louisiana Nurse Practice Act and the Louisiana State Board of Nursing, Current knowledge of American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics. Graduate of an NLN accredited RN program.
