This is the place to do your life's best work.(sm) The Associate Director of Hospital Contracting assists with development of the physicians and ancillary network yielding a geographically competitive stable network that achieves objectives for unit cost performance and trend management, and produces an affordable and predictable product for customers and business partners for all products within the Southeast Region. Ancillary provider types include DME, HH, Home IV, Hospice, Urgent Care and Sleep Medicine. Current products are Employer and Individual, Medicare and Retirement, and Community & State. Associate Director Hospital Contracting will also provide guidance and support the SE markets with contracting strategies for larger physician groups. Associate Director Hospital Contracting will leverage knowledge and best practices for evaluation and negotiation of contracts in compliance with national contract templates, reimbursement structure standards, and other key process controls. Supports regional focused contracting opportunities and best practices for hospital based physician contracting. This job also includes being the Southeast Region champion of operational efficiencies to help reduce administrative work and enhance Network Management staff experience working with cross functional departments. Primary Responsibilities: Manage a regional team supporting some ancillary and physician contract functions Manage the fee schedule creation and maintenance for the Southeast markets Develop functional, market level, and/or site strategy, plans, production and/or organizational priorities Apply network configuration and incentive-based payment models as appropriate to improve quality and efficiency Assist with meeting Southeast Region physician value based contracting goals and objectives Responsible for driving phys metrics for the Southeast Region by working with all market physician leads and market Vice-Presidents Disseminate information coming down from national teams to local markets and become a Subject Matter Experts in all Unitedhealthcare Networks activities impacting physician and ancillary providers for the SE Region Align markets to regional business strategies and decisions around narrowing or expanding benefit plans for physician/ancillary providers Helps prepare regional strategy documents for physician and ancillary reporting. Manage and support hospital based physician contracting (HBP) strategies across the Southeast Region Manage and maintain regional HBP contracts as negotiated by the regional team Identify and resolve technical, operational and organizational problems outside own team Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, health care management or related field, or equivalent experience 7+ years of hospital contracting experience 3+ years of Management experience with direct reports Motivated and driven to succeed; takes ownership and accountability for projects Ability to build strong, credible relationships by working across multiple areas in a facilitative style Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, conveying complex or technical information in a manner that others can understand, as well as ability to understand and interpret complex information from others Proven problem solving skills (assess, diagnose, treat, and prevent) Experience performing data analysis as it relates to contract performance as well as other operational metrics Detail oriented with strong analytical skills; can structure an issue and analyze alternative solutions using appropriate metrics, data, and tools Be able to constantly assess risks and effectively mobilize resources to mitigate and resolve them Strong negotiation skills; ability to gain acceptance from others on a plan or idea and achieve bottom line results for the company Strong project tracking, presentation and reporting skills Proficient with using Microsoft Power Point, Word, Excel, Visio, and Access Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree Physician or hospital certification SQL experience Careers with UnitedHealthcare.
